Redesigning a deployment history table to reduce information overload
Project Context
Scope
During my internship at Gearset Ltd., one of my projects was to explore the ways in which we can better present the “deployment history” table. The goal of this project was to help our users find information in the table easier.
What was my role?
This project was completed on my own, with support and feedback from my design mentors at Gearset.
First, let's take a look at current designs
Shown below is the data table prior to the redesign, along with some of my annotations on the reasons behind my design changes.
Now here are the redesigns!
Shown below is the data table after the redesign. I removed the expandable rows and designed a side modal to include all the CTAs in the table AND a summary of the page launched when users click on “View details.” The side modal provides a quick view of any information users may want upon quick glance, without requiring users to click on “View details” and launching them into another page.
